MUA of The Moment: Jadyn Ngo
Jadyn Ngo never imagined she would end up working in the world of beauty. She was a tomboy growing up, but always loved expressing her creativity through art and painting. That love eventually led her to her career as makeup artist. WIth 10 years of experience under her belt, her work has been featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Esquire, and more fashion mainstays. She is our founder’s favorite makeup artist and can be seen working her magic at Orcé’s largest campaign shoots. We caught up with her in the New Year to talk trends, muses, and can’t-live-without products.
Tell us about your beauty philosophy.
I like a minimal aesthetic that accentuates the skin’s natural beauty, rather than conceal it. I love creating a contrast between the subtlety of skin and bold colors on eyes and lips. I believe makeup should be fun and stress free. Most of my friends are always confused as to what they should use, and I tell them to stick with the basics: skincare, foundation, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, mascara, blush and lipstick.
Any makeup trends you predict to take off in 2021?
I’m not really a big fan of trends, but I do think adding a pop of color to healthy skin is a great way to keep makeup feeling fresh.
Are there any 2020 trends that you can't wait to forget?
Definitely the heavy contouring!
What is your Orcé shade?
Best complexion trick?
My best complexion trick would be the “press and roll” and “tap tap” techniques. Whether you’re using your fingers or brush to apply foundation or concealer, always press and roll or tap the products into your skin. Never drag or pull!
Your everyday makeup routine?
My everyday makeup routine is a lazy one. Sunscreen, moisturizer, and brows.

Who is your makeup muse?
I have two. Lisa Eldridge and Katey Denno.
Any tips on how to properly prep the skin for makeup?
I always love to clean and hydrate the skin before a makeup application. It makes such a difference. Start with toner, then move onto any serums, a good moisturizer, and most importantly, sunscreen!
